Grocery prices in Tbilisi change constantly, so we built a live “food basket” that updates automatically throughout the day.

The table below tracks everyday essentials many households buy regularly — grouped by category: dairy, grains, meat, vegetables, fruit, pantry items, and drinks. Prices are pulled directly from a Tbilisi grocery catalog and refreshed on a rolling schedule, about every 30 minutes, so you’re seeing current prices in Georgian lari (₾) plus an instant USD estimate based on the latest GEL–USD exchange rate from the National Bank of Georgia.

If you want a quick, realistic snapshot of what everyday food costs in Tbilisi right now, this basket is a simple benchmark.

Georgia also has an official grocery price-comparison portal: ekalata.gov.ge. Launched on the initiative of the Georgian government and operated with the involvement of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency, the platform is designed to make it easier to compare everyday prices across major retail chains.

As of September 2026, 16 retail chains are represented on eKalata, including Agrohub, Ambari, Carrefour, Daily, Goodwill, Gvirila, Kalata, Libre, Magniti, Nikora, Ori Nabiji (2Nabiji), Spar, Universami, Zgapari, Supta Sakhli, and Euro Product.

The portal currently lets shoppers compare prices for 13 basic food products and 10 essential non-food household products. It also includes a savings calculator that estimates how much you could save by buying the same products from different supermarket chains.

A useful new feature is store geolocation. You can use your location to find the nearest branch of a participating supermarket, making the price comparison more practical when deciding where to shop.

Prices on eKalata are updated using information supplied directly by the participating retail chains. A dedicated eKalata mobile app for iOS and Android is also in the final stages of development.

If you want something more practical than a general basket, there is also a Telegram bot called Kartuli Deals. It was built by a local programmer and works surprisingly well.

You share your location, choose the grocery stores near you, and then type what you need in plain language — for example, “milk 1 liter.” The bot searches across those stores, understands what you mean, and shows the lowest price along with the shop where you can buy it. It is a handy option if you want to save money without manually checking several supermarket apps or websites.
